Search engines old and new: the big general engines, private and independent engines that don't track you, AI search that answers in sentences, regional engines, and specialty search for papers, images, archives, patents and government. Our own ask page (webcentive.com/ask) sends one question to Google AI Mode, Grok or Bing Copilot. AI answers can be wrong, so check the sources they cite. This page dates back to the 1990s; most of the original engines (AltaVista, Excite, Infoseek, Northern Light and others) are gone, and their old links were removed.
