Send money to family and friends in the U.S. and abroad with payment apps, money transfer companies and banks. Scams come first here: never send money by wire transfer, payment app, gift card or cryptocurrency to someone you haven't met in person, or to anyone who says that's the only way to pay, claims to be from the government, or pressures you to act now. Once it's sent, it's like cash and usually can't be recovered. Payment apps like Zelle, Venmo and Cash App are for people you know and trust. For international transfers, federal remittance rules require the provider to show fees, the exchange rate and the amount that will arrive; you generally have 30 minutes to cancel, and providers must investigate errors. Check that a company is a registered money services business (FinCEN) and licensed in your state (NMLS). If you were scammed, contact the company right away, then report it to ReportFraud.ftc.gov and the FBI's IC3. Providers below are commercial.
