Window blinds and shades, with safety first. Corded blinds can strangle young children: CPSC and the Window Covering Safety Council say go cordless in any home with kids, and replace blinds made before 2000. Cellular (honeycomb) shades save the most energy; look for an AERC rating. Measure with a steel tape to the nearest 1/8 inch and decide inside or outside mount first.
