Vegetable, herb, flower and farm seeds for gardens, homesteads and farms. Start with your USDA hardiness zone and your state's Cooperative Extension office, which has free planting calendars and variety trials for your area. Save seed from open-pollinated and heirloom varieties (hybrids don't grow true from saved seed), and check the Seed Savers Exchange and Native Seeds/SEARCH for regional varieties. Never plant seeds you didn't order that arrive in the mail from overseas; USDA APHIS asks you to keep them sealed and report them to your state plant regulatory official. Seed companies below are commercial.
