# Table Saws - webcentive

Table saws for home building, decks, sheds and shop work, with safety first. Table saws cause tens of thousands of emergency room injuries a year, many of them finger amputations. Keep the blade guard and riving knife on, use a push stick, never reach over a spinning blade, stand out of the kickback line, and wear eye and hearing protection. Flesh-sensing saws such as SawStop stop the blade on skin contact. The CPSC proposed requiring that protection in 2017 and 2023, but withdrew the rule in 2025, so it is not required by law.
