Emergency food supply planner. Pick how many days and people, check the foods you want, and get a shopping list you can print, copy or save. It runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
Quantities are rough estimates, not medical or nutrition advice. Store food your household already eats, rotate it, and check labels for allergens.
Assumptions
- Water: 1 gallon (about 3.8 liters) per person per day for drinking and sanitation, as Ready.gov (FEMA) recommends. Children are counted the same as adults. Pets: an estimated 1 quart per pet per day.
- Food: about 2,000 kcal per adult per day and 1,400 kcal per child (age 1-12) per day. These are planning estimates; active adults may need more. Ready.gov recommends at least a 3-day supply of non-perishable food that needs no refrigeration and little or no cooking.
- Calories are split across the foods you check by the "share" shown; each item's calories per package are typical label values and vary by brand.
- Infants: formula is estimated at one 12.4 oz powder can per infant every 4 days. Ask your pediatrician; never dilute formula to stretch it.
- Pets: an estimated 0.5 lb of dry food per pet per day (a medium dog); adjust for your pet.
- Food safety after a power outage: see USDA FSIS. Kit lists: Ready.gov, American Red Cross.
