EV Charging at Home
webcentivewebcentive - home
EV charging at home. Most drivers do fine with a Level 2 charger on a 240-volt circuit. Buy a charger listed by UL or another recognized lab (ENERGY STAR models also use less standby power), and have a licensed electrician install it to NEC Article 625 with a permit; never use a cheap adapter or an extension cord. The federal 30C home charger credit only covers chargers placed in service by June 30, 2026, so check the AFDC and DSIRE for state and utility rebates. Off-grid? Size your solar and batteries for the extra load. Chargers below are commercial.
