Insulation and Air Sealing
webcentivewebcentive - home
Insulation and air sealing usually pay back faster than any other upgrade, and they shrink the solar, battery or heat pump you need. Seal air leaks first (attic, rim joists, plumbing and wiring holes), then add insulation to the R-value ENERGY STAR recommends for your zone. The FTC R-Value Rule makes sellers state tested R-values, so compare those, not marketing claims. A home energy audit with a blower door test (RESNET or BPI) finds the leaks you can't see. The federal 25C credit ended after 2025; check DSIRE for rebates. Makers below are commercial.
